Welcome to SnackCompass! We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS application.

SnackCompass is designed with a privacy-first approach—we believe your food preferences and personal data should remain yours alone.

2. Information We Collect

Short answer: We don't collect any personal data.

SnackCompass stores the following information locally on your device only:

👤 Profile Names — Display names you create for multiple profiles
🍽️ Food Preferences — Dietary restrictions, spice tolerance, budget, and cooking skill
📊 App Usage Data — Foods you've eaten, saved, or rejected (for recommendations)
🏆 Achievements — Badges earned and streaks tracked
⚙️ Settings — Theme preferences and notification settings

None of this data ever leaves your device. We do not have access to it.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

SnackCompass does NOT collect:

Personal identifiable information (name, email, phone number)
Location data
Device identifiers or advertising IDs
Usage analytics sent to external servers
Financial information or payment details
Health data

4. Data Storage & Security

All data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Your information is:

Stored securely in your device's app sandbox
Protected by your device's passcode/Face ID/Touch ID
Never transmitted to external servers
Automatically deleted when you uninstall the app

5. Third-Party Services

SnackCompass does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not share any data with third parties because we simply don't have access to your data.

6. Notifications

If you enable push notifications for meal reminders, these are handled entirely by Apple's notification system. We do not receive or store any notification-related data.

7. Children's Privacy

SnackCompass does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is designed for general audiences and contains no age-restricted content. Since all data remains on-device, we have no way to identify or collect information from any users, including children.

8. Your Rights & Choices

You have complete control over your data:

Delete profiles: Remove any profile and its associated data from Settings
Clear history: Delete your food history at any time
Disable analytics: Turn off local usage insights in Settings
Uninstall: Removing the app deletes all associated data permanently

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
